Major repairs are happening to the east wall this week. There`s extreme rustiness in the lower level bay, which was expected, and the EIFS has been removed. We can`t wait until the front door is open to the public again! #lpplrenovation

This week the future makerspace is taking shape on the first floor and so are the study rooms on the second. Outside, scaffolding is up to prepare for the repairs to the east wall and the ADA ramp is being reduced to rubble. #lpplrenovation

A construction banner and fences are up at our permanent space!
We ARE OVERJOYED for our La Grange Park community because when the renovation is complete there will be many benefits.
Most importantly, the building’s structural integrity will be repaired by replacing the water-damaged east and west walls, which were improperly constructed when the library was built in 1989.
Other needs include deferred maintenance projects like replacing the HVAC system, carpet, and lighting. We are delighted that these repairs can be made to the building due in part to the $574,000 Public Library Construction Act Grant from the Illinois State Library we received in March of 2023.
There will be a new look and feel to your library starting in Spring/Summer 2024. However, our desire to serve you at our best will remain the same. We will have more resources to bring to you now that this long awaited building project is underway.
